my educational background is in object-oriented programming, specifically C/C++ and learning new languages comes fairly easy to me. i’ve worked professionally with ASP, PHP and ColdFusion.

today, i’m building next generation mobile web sites using HTML5/CSS3 while still staying sharp with HTML emails. also, wireframing and prototyping are among the tasks i love to do. Working with rapid deployment on the WordPress platform.

Some more current tools:

dedicated web professional since 1997. i am primarily a front-end developer.

i’m not really a designer; im the guy who can build it exactly the way a designer wants it to… in a word: precision.

prefering to work in tandem with talented people who can create designs much better and faster then i could.

have extensive experience in flash development, semantic markup, separation of content, presentation, and interaction.

i write crisp, clean markup and my CSS box-model manipulation is unmatched. seriously.

companies i’ve worked at -or- built sites for cover a wide array of different industries including retail, financial, educational, and software providers.

some of these companies include: adp, alcoa, all-clad,american eagle, firestone, gannett digital, macys, pennsylvania lottery, procter & gamble, pnc financial services, rite aid, true value, whirlpool, westinghouse

i have been involved in successful seo projects and feel very much at home with implementing a wide variety of technologies such as third-party APIs, emarketing analytics including webtrends/atlas tagging, and maintenance of other peoples code.

i was heavily involved in social media marketing in my last position – which includes full brand monitoring across several SM platforms.

I’m only good at two things.

in my spare time, i watch a few movies and drink the occasional beer or two. And my dog is sort of awesome.

all of the cooking related content can be found at one of my other sites, nicoleandgreg.net (tasty stuff over there, you should check it out)…

So take a look around. There are all sorts of little bits on life content leaking out all over this site. Put it all together and its me. That simple.

tired of the same old Lorem Ipsum? Have no fear, Jules Winnfield is here.

Samuel L. Ipsum is a dummy text generator that creates dummy text in the style of Samuel L. Jackson. Obviously, it’s not safe for work, but there’s also a Slipsum Lite version that creates the same style text, but without the profanity. It’s a fun alternative to the standard Lorem Ipsum. (more…)

The Best Science Fiction Books

Stumbled across a nice collection of the best sci-fi books as determined by reddit and its readers. I can personally recommend Snow Crash as it was my introduction to Neal Stephenson (special thanks to Mr Michael Bixler for that one). I eventually read several other (more…)

Ultimate Responsive Design Roundup

Posted by on Sep 1, 2011 in blog | 0 comments

Responsive design is the new darling of the web design world. It seems that not a week goes by that there aren’t new resources for doing it, opinions about how to do it or even whether to do it at all, and new sites that make beautiful use of it. (more…)

Mobile Marketing and Smartphones

As marketing catches up to technology, I’m working on more and more mobile sites. Or sites that have mobile and responsive in mind at the least. So I was very pleased to find a gem hidden inside a recent article. The graphic below is a great starting point for discussing screen widths to support/consider when looking at multiple devices and platforms.

Camden Kane still the best looking dog. Ever.

Posted by on Aug 29, 2011 in blog | 0 comments

We are a little disappointed that we lost the camera battery prior to the party this month… but I recently found it and thought it might be nice to upload some new photos of Camden. This is my second attempt at using the deck as a backscape to his size and coloration. Not sure if the second attempt, lacking the spontanity of the first… well, was sucessful. There are a few pics i like.

You aint the greatest
just the latest in long lines
Of people who been ripping me off now
for a long time
You chalk lines and
the crack default line

A couple short nickles
fuckin’ around with a long dime
Rewind mine
a couple of times
And then they’ll ask me
word for every word in the sound

I’m just citing
from the top to the bottom
And then decide what we’ll ride
in the field of forgotten
